Board layout

Set up your tasks as cards you can drag in a board

Updated today

Along with list, calendar, and roadmap layouts, Dart also has a board layout.

You can access the board layout option by clicking on the layout switcher in the top right corner of the application:

The dropdown menu at the top right will also allow you to make adjustments to the appearance of your dart board, including adjusting the appearance of:

  • Subtasks (choose to have them indented, collapsed or flat)

  • Absent parents (toggle on or off)

    • This is only relevant if tasks on the list are subtasks of other tasks. If the tasks they are subtasks of are in different dartboards or are filtered out in some way, you will be able to visualize them with the toggle on.

  • Group by (Status is the default for board layout)

  • Hide empty groups (toggle on to hide groups that contain no tasks)

You can also add various Properties to your Board layout, including elements such as Assignees, Tags, Priority, and more:

Creating tasks in board layout

To create a new task in your Board layout, simply hover over the desired status board (To-Do, Doing, etc.). Once your cursor is over a board you will see a "+" at the top right of the board, as well as a "New Task" icon directly below:

Click on either option to add a new task. Double-click on any task to add further details, such as Assignee, Status, Description, Attachments, Notes, and more.

Changing Status, Moving Tasks

There are two ways to change the status of a task in Dart's Board layout. The first is to click on the task and manually changing the Status. The second is dragging and dropping the task into the most relevant Status board:

Collapsing and Expanding Columns

Need to focus on just one or two columns? You can shrink or collapse them as needed by clicking on the double-arrow button at the top of the column, just to the right of the Status label. To expand a collapsed column, simply click on it again:

Need even more flexibility? Dart provides you with various ways to filter and sort your boards.
