An epic is an issue type representing a high-level project initiative. Epics are often large and therefore broken down into smaller parts that make the epic manageable. For many, they are also useful for grouping similar or recurring work together.
If you need to set up an epic, here's how you do it:
Start from scratch
The first step is to make a new dartboard, or a new space and dartboard for your epic. You can also replicate an existing space or dartboard to use as your epic.
Create your type
Create your type by customizing your status cadence that will meet the needs of your epic:
Then, make sure you set your type as the default in your new epic dartboard:
Add your projects/epics
You can now add in high-level project details or your epic in the space.
Linking other dartboard tasks to your epic
Once you have your epic space and dartboard, as well as project details, you can link other tasks in other dartboards to your epic. These, in practice, become "subtasks" of the epic they belong to. To "link" your "subtasks" add a "relate to" signifier in it, pointing back to your epic.
Start by creating a "task" in your epic dartboard. Then, link to the "subtask," a task from another dartboard, by making your new task in your epic as the "parent":
