Sometimes you don't want to list something as just a task. Maybe it's an epic, or a project. You may also want to set different statuses for different types.
Using the types functionality lets you differentiate between whether the things you're making (in various layouts) are "tasks" or other types of things like "epics" "projects" or anything else. Types also enables you to have different statuses for each type you differentiate.
To get started, go into your settings and click on "types":

Statuses in a type workflow
Just like normal statuses in the property settings, each type has a few status categories within its workflow that you can manipulate and change to fit your needs:
Unstarted
Started
Blocked
Finished
Cancelled
Under each element is a "+" icon. This allows you to add more statuses under each category. You can add as many sections as needed and drag and drop them around to change the workflow ordering.
Creating a new type
To make a new "type" simply click on the "+" icon beside the TYPES title at the top of your types window:
From there, you can create and adjust your new type. You can edit the name, statuses, toggle it on or off, and choose if you would like it to show as a milestone on roadmaps. You can also move around the ordering until you have your type organized as you like:
Later, if you need to, you can also disable or modify a status by hovering over the right side of a status bar:
If you need to delete a type, simply click on the more icon ("...") at the top right of the type:
Using Types to create different status progressions
If in your workspace you have one dartboard that shows statuses like "to-do, doing, done," and another dartboard showing "to-do, in progress, in review, submitting, completed," you can make two different types: one for each dartboard. This way, you can progress different dartboard tasks through different statuses. You can learn more about setting this up in our dedicated article.
