Overview

Dart is built for speed. Keyboard shortcuts are integrated all throughout Dart to enable you to fly through your project management work quicker than ever before. There are shortcuts to accomplish everything from changing the status of a task to moving between dartboards.

One important tip when getting started with shortcuts is to make sure that you aren’t editing a text box such as a title or description as you try to use them. If you find yourself typing text somewhere but you want to escape and use keyboard shortcuts, start by pressing Esc on your keyboard first.

Command center

To accomplish nearly any task in Dart you can open up the command center and type what it is that you want to do in natural language. This even includes things like downloading the Dart apps or emailing Support. You can also see the associated keyboard commands for various actions that have them within the command center. To access the command center simply press + K on Mac or Ctrl + K on PC.

You can also find the Command center by clicking on "Help and resources" and the finding it near the bottom in the Tools section.

You can also see a full list of all keyboard shortcuts by pressing ?. This list is also searchable to hone in on what you need.

Alternatively you can click the button labelled "Shortcuts" right below Command center in the Help and resources menu.

Some helpful shortcuts include:

  • C to create a task

  • Tab to indent to subtask

  • J or K to move up and down a task list

  • S to change the status of a task (or use 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 to directly cycle between possible statuses).

  • G then S to go to settings

  • L to add a subtask

Tooltips

One of the main ways to pick up the keyboard shortcuts as you go is to take note of the various tooltips. Just hover your mouse over a button in Dart and if there is a shortcut associated with that button it will appear on screen so you can learn it for next time.
